What you don’t realize when you book your boudoir session is that it’s a pretty good workout. You will be holding poses and regulating your breathing all while adjusting your facial expressions and hand placement... while attempting to look natural.
While I will be coaching you from head to toe, getting your muscles physically able to perform is still super crucial.
I’ve put together a few stretches for you to do 1-2 weeks before your session that will help get you nice and supple so you aren’t sore the weeks after.
STANDING HAMSTRING STRETCH
Stand with feet at shoulder’s width, reach up to the sky, and then bend at the hips to reach down to your toes
Be sure to keep your head and neck relaxed so you don’t cause strain
Hold the stretch for 20-45 seconds, breaking and extending the stretch as needed
OVERHEAD STRETCH
Sitting in a chair, crossed legged on the ground, or at the edge of your bed, sit straight and tall
Stretch one arm above your head towards the direction opposite of your arm (if you are stretching right arm, stretch it over your head to the left), switch arms and repeat
Next, stretch both arms directly above your head, clasping hands
Hold for 20-40 seconds per arm
EXTENDED PUPPY POSE
Starting on all fours, walk your hands forward and outstretch
Shift hips back towards heels
Keep head down, between elbows
Hold for 30-60 seconds
CAT-COW POSE
On all fours, with your core tightened, arch your back downward to create a “u” shape in your back. Keep your head down and pop your butt up. Hold for 10 seconds.
Next, arch your back upwards to create a “n” shape in your back. Keep your head up and tuck your butt in. Hold for 10 seconds.
Repeat these transitions 4-6 times.
